Beginner's Guide: First 30 Days in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
A complete day-by-day roadmap for new Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream players. Master the daily routine, milestone progression, key mechanics, and exactly what to do in your first 30 days on the island.
Quick Start: Your First Hour
Name your island wisely — it can't be changed later. Pick something personal or themed.
Create yourself first, then 2 close friends or favourite characters. 3 Miis is the demo minimum.
Think about personality sliders before confirming — use our calculator to plan. Locked-in features include face shape and skin tone.
Complete the Where & Wear tutorial to unlock the clothing shop. This is also the demo endpoint.
Start earning Warm Fuzzies immediately — feed Miis, resolve bubbles, watch the news.
The Hand Cursor (drag Miis with it) is your most important tool for island management.

Key Mechanics Every New Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Player Needs
The Hand Cursor
Press and hold on a Mii to pick them up. Move them near another Mii to trigger an interaction. This is your primary tool for encouraging friendships and romance. Use it daily.
Thought Bubbles
Bubbles above houses mean a Mii wants something. Different bubble types: food (fork), clothing (dress), money (coin), problem (exclamation mark). Resolve quickly to maximise happiness.
Happiness Meter
Each Mii has a hidden happiness meter. Check by tapping their house → portrait. Keep it above 70% for positive events. Low happiness → no events, no relationships, no fun.
The Money System
Miis earn money from island activities. They request things to buy. You can give them money directly or buy them items. Surplus money increases overall island wealth.
Warm Fuzzies
The island's happiness currency. Earned from making Miis happy. Spent at Wishing Fountain to unlock buildings and features. Prioritise unlocks that expand island capacity.
Mii News Station
Watch daily to see what's happening. New friendships, relationships, and island events are reported here. It's also a good way to spot which Miis need attention.
New Player FAQ
How long does it take to reach 70 Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream?+
With active daily play, most players reach 30–40 Miis within the first month. Reaching 70 typically takes 2–4 months depending on how frequently you add new Miis and whether you enable the baby system.
Do I need to play Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream every day?+
The game rewards daily play but doesn't punish long absences harshly. Miis may be slightly unhappy if you return after a long break, but relationships don't regress. A quick 5-minute session resolving thought bubbles is enough for a maintenance day.
What should I do first with Warm Fuzzies in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream?+
First unlock: News Station (150 WF). Second: Observation Tower (200 WF). Third: Palette House (300 WF). Fourth: Ferris Wheel (350 WF) — it generates passive happiness. See our Warm Fuzzies guide for the full priority list.
Can I play the demo content after buying the full game?+
Yes — all your demo progress (Miis, relationships, Warm Fuzzies, the hamster suit reward) transfers to the full game. The demo becomes part of your full island.
