Detailed FAQ

Is Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream a Switch exclusive?+

Yes. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a Nintendo Switch exclusive and is not available on any other console or handheld. The only way to play it on non-Switch hardware is through emulation (see our PC guide).

Does it work on Nintendo Switch 2?+

Yes. Nintendo Switch 2 has backward compatibility with Nintendo Switch game cards and digital purchases. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream runs on Switch 2 in backward compatibility mode. Some Switch 2 exclusive features (like 4K output) may not apply to backward-compatible games.

Is it available as a physical cartridge?+

Yes. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is available as both a physical Nintendo Switch game card and a digital download from the Nintendo eShop. Physical is available from major retailers worldwide.

Can I play on Switch Lite?+

Yes, fully compatible. Switch Lite is handheld-only, but Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is primarily a handheld game, so all features work perfectly.

Does it support TV mode?+

Yes. On original Switch and Switch OLED, the game supports TV mode (docked) for playing on a bigger screen. The island and Miis look great on a large display.

Can multiple people play on one Switch?+

Each island is tied to one save file per Switch user account. Separate Nintendo accounts on the same Switch can each have their own island. There is no local co-op or multiplayer within one island.

Is Nintendo Switch Online required?+

Nintendo Switch Online is NOT required for the main game. It is required only for certain online sharing features (where applicable). Local wireless sharing works without NSO.
