Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Save Editor Guide
How to access, back up, and optionally edit your Tomodachi Life save data when playing on PC emulator. Covers save file location, backup strategy, and available community tools.
Save editing is only possible on the PC emulator. Save data on Nintendo Switch hardware cannot be edited without custom firmware.
Save File Location (Ryujinx)
Ryujinx stores save files in a dedicated folder. Right-click on the game in Ryujinx → Open User Save Directory to find it directly.
%APPDATA%\Ryujinx\bis\user\save\{title_id}\~/Library/Application Support/Ryujinx/bis/user/save/{title_id}/~/.config/Ryujinx/bis/user/save/{title_id}/How to Back Up Your Save
Always back up before editing. A corrupted save without backup means losing your entire island.
- 1Close Ryujinx completely (saves may be cached in memory while running).
- 2Navigate to the save file location using the paths above.
- 3Copy the entire {title_id} folder to a separate backup location (e.g., Desktop, USB drive, cloud).
- 4Name the backup with a date: "TomoSave_2025-05-20_backup".
- 5Keep at least 3 backups in rotation before experimenting with editors.
Community Save Tools
The save format for Living the Dream is different from the 3DS version. As of launch, the community is actively reverse-engineering the save format. Check GitHub and the TomodachiLife subreddit for the latest tool releases.
