What are the 4 personality sliders in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream?+
The four sliders are: Movement (how quickly your Mii walks), Speech (how talkative they are), Energy (how active and enthusiastic they are), and Thinking (how analytical and deliberate they are). Each slider goes from 1 to 10. The combination of values determines which of the 16 personality types your Mii gets.
What is the difference between US and PAL personality names?+
The North American (US) version and the European (PAL) version of the game use different names for the same personality types. For example, "Lively" in the US is called "Vivacious" in PAL regions. The slider values and behaviours are identical — only the names differ.
Can I change my Mii's personality after creating them?+
Yes! You can change personality sliders at any time by opening the Y menu, selecting your Mii, and choosing "Edit Mii". Note: changing personality will alter their walk style, dialogue tone, and how frequently they interact with others.
How do the 4 personality groups affect gameplay?+
The 4 groups (Outgoing, Considerate, Reserved, Ambitious) determine broader behavioural patterns. Outgoing Miis chat more frequently and form friendships faster. Considerate Miis are more empathetic. Reserved Miis are more private. Ambitious Miis are more goal-focused. The group also affects which island buildings feel "lively" and which feel "quiet".
What personality is best for an active island?+
Outgoing and Considerate personalities generate the most daily interactions. A mix of 50% Outgoing + 30% Considerate + 20% other types tends to produce a very active island with frequent events. Avoid stacking too many Reserved Miis if you want lots of drama.
Are MBTI types officially connected to Tomodachi Life personalities?+
No — the MBTI mapping on this site is fan-made and not endorsed by Nintendo. The game's personality system is inspired by a similar 4-axis structure to MBTI, but they are different systems. See our MBTI & Compatibility page for the full fan mapping table.
My calculator result doesn't match what the game says. Why?+
Make sure you're reading the slider values accurately in-game — they go from 1 (far left) to 10 (far right). If the value is exactly 5 or 6, try both options. Some personality types have overlapping boundaries that can cause confusion.
