How the In-Game Compatibility Tester Works
The Compatibility Tester is located at the Observation Tower on your island. You can access it once the Tower is unlocked (requires approximately 15+ Miis on your island).
To use it: select two Miis and the game outputs a compatibility percentage for that day. The percentage changes daily based on a formula involving both Miis' birth months and days.
The Birthday Formula
The community has reverse-engineered the compatibility formula. It combines:
- • Birth month of each Mii
- • Birth day of each Mii
- • The current in-game date
- • A rotating daily modifier

Compatibility % Interpretation
Does it actually affect romance?
Based on extensive community testing, the compatibility percentage does not appear to directly speed up or slow down romance. Miis with 10% compatibility can still fall in love if placed near each other regularly. The tester is primarily a fun narrative feature rather than a core gameplay mechanic.

No. The game's personality system is its own design with 4 sliders. The MBTI mapping on this page is entirely fan-made, based on community observation of Mii behaviour patterns. It should be treated as entertainment, not an official mechanic.
How does the in-game Compatibility Tester work?+
The Compatibility Tester at the Observation Tower calculates a daily percentage for two Miis based on their birthdays. The formula uses both birth month and day, and changes daily. It's a fun flavour feature — Nintendo has not confirmed it directly affects romance or friendship speed.
Does compatibility percentage affect whether Miis fall in love?+
Community testing suggests it has minimal direct impact on romance progression. Miis with low compatibility can still fall in love. The main driver of romance is proximity — place Miis near each other frequently using the Hand Cursor. Compatibility is more of a flavour/story mechanic.
What personality types make the most drama on an island?+
Lively + Moody pairings generate the most dramatic interactions. Confident Miis frequently clash with Stubborn ones. Quirky + Trendy create interesting tension. For maximum island drama, mix these personality types liberally.
Which personality types make the most stable friendships?+
Within-group friendships are consistently the most stable: Considerate types with each other, Outgoing with Outgoing, etc. The most universally friendly personality is Buddy, who gets along with almost everyone.
