Physical vs Digital — Which to Buy?
Buy Physical if:
- • You want to resell or trade in later
- • You have multiple Switches (shared cart)
- • You want to find it cheaper second-hand
- • You enjoy collecting physical games
Buy Digital if:
- • You want instant access with no cartridge
- • You primarily use Switch Lite
- • You want to play on multiple accounts on one Switch
- • Waiting for eShop sales (Nintendo does have occasional sales)
How to Get It Cheaper
Cashback Credit Cards: Use a cashback card at any major retailer for 1–5% back on every purchase.
Amazon Warehouse Deals: Physical copies in "like new" condition can be 15–25% cheaper than retail.
eBay / Mercari: Pre-owned physical cartridges. Confirm the cart works before buying.
Nintendo eShop Sales: Less common for new releases, but Nintendo does occasional 10–20% off events.
Import from Japan: JP physical version is often $5–10 cheaper AUD/USD after conversion, but game is in Japanese.
